THIS SATURDAY, August 6 is the Jaguar Club of Ohio’s Concours d’Elegance and 3rd  Annual European Auto Show at Ursuline College, 2550 Lander Road in Pepper Pike, Ohio! (click here for more info fast!)

This year's president is Juan Becera, and VP is Tony Krnceric.

What can we say to convince you that it will be a great day?  How about hearing it directly from former Concours Committee chairs (and president and vp of the JCO, respectively) Irene and Dominic Perri?

  1.  What makes this 48th Concours better than or different from the past 47?

This Concours d’Elegance is a continued tradition of the Jaguar Club of Ohio (JCO). It allows our members to compete against 67 clubs in the Jaguar Clubs of North America (JCNA). Our members have the opportunity to have their Jaguar judged by JCNA-certified judges, to give them a score of either 100 in Champion Class or 10 in the Driven Class. Their scores are entered on the JCNA website, where they are measured against all of the other Jaguar Clubs in the nation, allowing them to win local, regional and national awards.

  1.  Is there anything new happening this year? What shouldn’t we miss?

This year is the 3rd Annual European Auto Show.  We continue to advertise our show to allow all of the European automobile owners a venue to display their autos . . . be sure not to miss the variety of European autos along with the JCO Jaguars.  Be sure to check out the most beautiful restored Jaguars, along with Aston Martins, Rolls Royces and Bentleys . . . . and many other surprises!

  1.  What should novice Jaguar enthusiasts look for in the highest quality examples?

Look for the beauty and authenticity in each Jaguar that is being judged. Concours-level automobiles are the premier archetypes of their class, and the Champion Class displays exquisite examples of the marque. The Driven Class also features beautiful Jaguars, but these owners love to drive their autos; therefore, there may be some instances where they may not be as pristine as Champion entries.

  1.  What do the judges look for?

In the Driven Class, the judges look at the exterior, interior and the mechanicals of the Jaguar. In the Champion Class, the engine and the boot are examined as well. They also look for authentic manuals and tools that came with the auto from the factory. There is also a Preservation Class, with no modifications made to the auto, and the Modified Class, where the owners have updated and personalized the Jaguars.

  1.  Any events for kids? If so, what?

No specific events, other than being a Junior Judge. We will have ballots so kids can vote for their favorite auto in the show, and don’t miss the ice cream!

  1.  How much is public admission? Best time to show up?

Entrance to the show for spectators is FREE. And the best time to come to the show is after 11 AM, when all the competing autos must be on the field.

And how about a little info on the Jag Club of Ohio?
  1.  How can we get the younger generation interested in our car collecting passion?

Continue to hold shows where the younger generation can be introduced to the hobby. Allow Jaguar owners to share their passion for this beautiful automobile with their family and friends.

  1.  What other events happen during the year that people shouldn’t miss?

The JCO has events every month, including museum tours, winery visits and drives in the national park system. We also hold the sanctioned Concours as well as sanctioned slaloms and rallies. We had a Driver Day, where we follow a route developed by one of the members and just enjoy driving our Jaguars. We participate in Poker Runs where we drive a designated route and have 5 stops where the participants receive another card from the poker deck: at the last stop, the winning hand wins the pot.

  1.  What makes the Jaguar Club of Ohio stand out from other similar clubs? What makes it special?

We are a special club because we plan so many events for our members that include showing, sharing and driving our Jaguars. Every new member is greeted by enthusiastic Jaguar owners, but you don’t have to own a Jaguar to be in the club. We are the 11th most active club in the nation.

  1.  How can people find out more info about Jaguars?

Join our club to be connected to all the Jaguar lovers as well as to resources for finding Jaguar mechanics, restorers and replacement parts. The Jaguar Club of North America website is also a great informational resource for our clubs at https://www.jcna.com/.

  1.  Anything else we should know about?

Join the club! We always have great events and enjoy our Jaguars to the fullest.

Yet we don’t limit our events to Jaguars. We include ALL automobiles; we have quite a few members who own other makes of autos as well. The JCO sets up weekend excursions to places like Indiana to see the Packard Museum and the Auburn, Cord and Duesenberg Museum.  Then there’s our trip to Altoona, Pennsylvania  for Lenny’s Classic Car Museum and Detroit for the Henry Ford Museum, the Rouge Ford Factory and the Detroit Auto Show.

Meet new people, travel to different areas with your Jaguar. We encourage our members to plan trips that are both educational and fun.  And we ALWAYS end up at a restaurant for dinner or lunch when an event is completed.  Our motto pretty much says it all:  “Never at meeting without eating.”

Beautiful cars, fun people, lots of food.  Doesn’t get any better than that, does it?

See you Saturday!
