Car Idiots Forever®

2021 Hall of Fame Inductee

CHAR LAUTZENHEISER

Don't be fooled by her feminine appearance:
Char is definitely a car guy.

Char Lautzenheiser

Is it the fact that she’s been the director of the Canton Classic Car Museum since 2006?  Or that she fell in love with cars at a Bristol, Tennessee car race at age 3 (yep, 3 years old)?  Perhaps it’s that she has an encyclopedic knowledge of engines?

More telling still is her own explanation:  “I ingest autos.  It’s my passion.”

Not only did Char earn her pilot’s license at age 16, but she grew up attending car lots and reading Motor Trend magazine with her parents:  “Daddy would explain to me about the different engines and wheelbases. My mother would quiz us on the motor magazines we read.”

Char is also passionate about the Canton Classic Car Museum and loves sharing the history of the Northeast Ohio car industry with anyone who visits.  Some star attractions include a 1920s armor-plated Canton police car, a rare 1904 St. Louis by Timken and an even-rarer 1937 Cord. In all, there are over 40 unusual classic and special-interest vehicles on display.

But Char wants everyone to know that the museum is more than cars . . . it’s a walk down memory lane, filled with Canton artifacts like vintage clothing, photographs, toys, movie posters, steam engines and more.  Because of the pandemic, the doors are closed at this time, but Char and her team plan to see it open soon.  In the meantime, you can visit the website to whet your appetite:  http://www.cantonclassiccar.org/

You’ll soon see that it’s quite obvious why Char was chosen as our first 2021 Inductee to the Car Idiots Forever Hall of Fame.
Be sure to visit the Canton Classic Car Museum and get to know her!
